Who is Tim Lineaweaver (& why is he starting a blog)?
Late-1970s vs. Today.

For a time, my substance dependencies destroyed my life.

Alcoholism and an outsized addiction to freebase cocaine obliterated everything good, causing financial ruin, divorce, estrangement from my daughter, and IRS problems. I couldn't function anymore and my health was suffering.

I started using in 1971, but I've been in recovery from addictions and trauma since 1984, and I now make my living treating clients. Today, I like to think of myself as a “recovery salesman.” I love to “sell” recovery because it's a great product, much better than some of the things I used to sell (alcohol and drugs).

I am now a guy who loves to learn and grow. I've been happily married for thirty years and have three kids and four grandchildren.

Recovery restored my life and then some.

During my years as a recovering person and clinician, I've learned some things that I will be sharing here that I believe will be useful to others.

Topics will include the following and more:

  • Recovery, Trauma, and Developing Resilience
  • Writing, Reading and Developing a Successful Mindset
  • Fitness, Health, and Diet

I certainly don't know everything though, and I hope we can learn from one another and others can learn from us through an open discourse. Meaning, I want to start a conversation with you!

The site is for people contemplating recovery from addictions and/or trauma.

This site is for you if you're:

  • Struggling with depression, anxiety, or other mental health problems;

This site is also for anyone who has been in recovery for decades and would like a forum to discuss your “experience, strength and hope.”

Or, if you just want to take better care of yourself—to eat better and/or stop being sedentary—it's for you too.

I'm passionate about recovery and have seen that when people commit they get well.

You can learn more about me here and here, and about my forthcoming memoir, Blasted, here.
